Sacred Garden 2016
Sacred Garden 2016 is a piece of outdoor public Performance Art that traces significant markers in the journey through womanhood; gender navigations, sisterhood, first menstruation, pregnancy, miscarriage, birth, motherhood, death of one’s own mother, menopause, and elderhood. Ensemble members will tell their own stories through improvised movement and spoken word poetry. Between these story-scenes, the audience will be guided through dreamlike, non-linear and evocative scenes through butoh dance, live music, temporary sculptural installation, and puppetry. This piece is organized and directed by Malia Burkhart.
Performances: Saturday October 1, Friday October 7, and Saturday October 8, 2016. 6:45 gather, 7pm start. This performance is outdoors, so please dress for the weather. In the case of rain, check this page for notices of cancellation: https://www.facebook.com/events/983320995062334/
